Barry is one of the firm’s audit partners and technical reviewers. He serves clients in a wide range of industries that issue various types of financial statements in accordance with both accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (“GAAP”) and International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”). He has also assisted clients in preparing personal financial statements, as well as conducting due diligence, agreed-upon procedures and forensic accounting engagements.
Barry also has responsibility for dealing with a variety of matters involving compliance with accounting and auditing standards. He reviews workpapers, researches accounting and auditing issues, and plans and prepares continuing educational programs. Barry also monitors changes in the accounting and auditing standards, disseminating such information to partners and professional staff.
Barry began his career at Arthur Andersen LLP, where he worked in their real estate practice from 1996 through 2002. Prior to joining Shanholt Glassman Klein Kramer & Co., Barry was a controller at a private real estate company, managing the financial reporting requirements of several real estate portfolios.
Barry graduated Magna Cum Laude from Yeshiva University’s Sy Syms School of Business with a B.S. in Accounting in May 1996. He was also a member of the varsity basketball team, where he earned Rookie of the Year honors in 1995, as well as All-Conference All-Star recognition in 1995 and 1996. In addition, he was the 1995 NCAA Division III statistical leader in steals.
Barry is a certified public accountant in New York and New Jersey, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, both the New York State and New Jersey State Societies of CPAs, and the New York Reviewers Group. He is also a member of the board of directors and audit committee of Salanter Akiba Riverdale Academy.
